I Worst DMV experience I've ever had, and I am accustomed to Southern California DMV's... The guy was horribly rude, and talked down to me during our brief conversation where he literally delighted in me not having the appropriate documentation (which conflicted with what was listed on the website). No "Iowa Nice" at the establishment.
Internet said they close at 6:30. Drove 25 miles so my 16 year old could get his drivers license on his birthday. When we got there it was after 4:00 and they told us we had to come back later. Apparently they close at 4:30 and don't do a lot of things after 4:00. I now have one very pissed birthday boy, thanks.
Holy wow! Small towns are the best! Everyone was super fast and efficient. Registered car and new license in under 15min. Keep up the good work small town Iowa!
you wont see a big line of people at this place and they wont take much time to process the renewals.
Edit: My second trip here was a complete 180. I was in and out within 30 minutes (both license and registration/plates in hand). The two women that helped me were very nice and efficient.
I went in the middle of the day and had no wait at all to get my drivers license switched to Iowa from a different state. The lady was very nice and we had a nice conversation. My only complaint is that she put the wrong date for my birthday on the new license so I have to go back. Definitely a better experience then I expected and much much better then the reviews at the Polk County office. It was definitely worth the 25minute drive.
